About Me
My name is Briana Contreras and I'm an experienced reporter, editor and photographer in the Greater Cleveland area.
I'm seeking new opportunities in the journalism and promotional communications field.
Since October 2019, I have been employed through life sciences publication company, MJH Life Sciences. I'm associate editor for the company's international, monthly print and online magazine Managed Healthcare Executive (MHE). At MHE I operate our website and edit our print publication. Additionally, I create daily content such as articles, podcasts, and broadcast videos then share them through newsletters and social media.
In the past, I've worked as a reporter at a well-established print and online newspaper in my hometown of Lorain, OH called The Morning Journal. From October 2017 - June 2019, I grew as a staff writer and photographer within the daily paper and connected with my team and many sources in and outside the coverage area of Lorain and Erie counties.
Prior to The Journal, I held the position of Managing Editor and reporter for Cleveland State University's school newspaper, The Cleveland Stater. I was also Opinion Editor for student-ran newspaper, The Cauldron. In addition to writing for the school as a full-time student, I was working part -time outside of school, volunteering as a broadcast reporter for a local non-profit publication and writing for my internship - a Cleveland Cavaliers sports blog-site - Cavs: The Blog.
Reporting news and telling stories about my passions for art, culture and community, while learning new information and creating relationships, is something I strive to achieve in my career.
I aspire to continue telling stories to readers in hopes to inform, make change and inspire.
