Links To The Present: “The Korvaliers Wake Up” Edition

When their record dropped to 1-1 against the Portland Trailblazers and 0-1 against the Utah Jazz, the Cleveland Cavaliers were staring at a rough road trip and a two game losing streak. After last night’s victory against The Sacramento Kings, though, the now 29-10 team quickly halted that streak from getting any worse.

In their two defeats this week, the Cavs just looked okay… even LeBron for that matter.

From James’ sloppy passing, Kevin and Kyrie either attempting too many threes and not delivering or not attempting enough, Kay Felder’s struggles, as well as the rest of the bench’s slow-footed defense has created a frustrating week. The entire roster has looked plain sloppy.

It was reported that The Cavs haven’t had a practice since Dec. 28 because they’ve been on the road. Even though they’re all professional athletes, going without practice will obviously affect anyone’s performance. The players admit to their rough patch and that they need to get their heads back in the gym.

According to WKYC, LeBron said that he has a great team, but they still “have a long way to go.” I agree and there’s always room for that improvement so that the Cavs don’t have to go through these rough patches when an incident strikes.

HOWEVER, with Kyrie coming back after his slight injury and missing a few games he definitely seemed out of groove, but after leading his team with 26 points against the Kings, I’d say that Irving and the rest of the team were trying to correct what had been ailing them in Utah and Portland.

Uncle Drew is baaaaaack!

• The Mike Dunleavy-for-Kyle Korver trade started bearing fruit. After struggling his first two games, Korver scored 18 pts last night and showed he’s a perfect addition to the rotation. His chemistry with the team is already beginning to mesh well and clearly reflect on other players’ performances, play after play.

Oooowee! Korver must have been listening when LeBron advised him to “shoot the ball.”

It’s easy to see why the Cavs and LeBron love some of these old dudes. Did I say old? I meant young, talented and handsome NBA vets who play like they’re still in their 20’s.

“It’s stability,” James says. “When you’ve got professionals who know what their role is and they’ve been doing it for years and years, it just makes your job that much easier. It’s always great to look on the bench and see those guys. They’re always ready to go. It’s good for our team.”

Now lets see if The Cavs can continue this heat *insert fire emoji* in yet another nail-biting face-off with the Warriors this Monday at 8 p.m.

•LeBron’s first shoe comes back. James claims Shumpert had a great performance last night because he was wearing the Nike Air Zooms. Can we agree?

•Cavs’ Big Three lead the NBA All-Star voting. Be sure to get that vote in by Monday night at 11:59 p.m.!
